Irrigation systems are valuable tools when it comes to lawn care. Unfortunately when missed used are also a huge detriment to your lawn. Frequent short watering's can cause lazy roots and disease. Watering at improper times of the day and nights can cause disease and a waste of water. Here is the recommended watering schedule.
45 min a zone 3 days a week. From 4 am to 9 am. If your system can not achieve those time frames simply set half the zones for alternate days, leaving the off day for your typical mowing day.
Before 4 am can cause disease in hot weather and after 9 am is a waste of water.
In times of more rain fall adjust your water schedule to perhaps 30 min a zone or 2 days a week pending on the conditions.
If you have any questions on timing please feel free ask.
We often do not recommend a spring seedings. If you have an established lawn consider waiting till fall. The reasons are 1st. When performing spring seeding it is nesseccary to postpone crab grass pre emergent, until the new grass is mature enough to handle it. Typically four to six weeks. crab grass breakthrough can quickly undo any seeding done. 2nd the new grass is not mature enough and does not have the root system to handle extreme heat and moisture deficiencies, therefore requiring watering frequently and throughout the whole summer.
Finally disease pressure to new grass can and will quickly destroy the new grass.
If you have bare dirt and feel you are a good candidate for a spring seeding, please feel free to contact us for a site evaluation.
Mowing timing with your applications is helpful but not critical. Ideally we would like for the lawn not to be mowed 24 hours before or after a treatment. The 24 hour window helps for the weed controls to get into the plant. The majority of the time your applications consist of a dry fertilizer and crabgrass preemergent or grub control, which will not be effected by mowing at all. That being said, if an application gets mowed on, simply keep an eye on the broadleaf weeds, if they don't appear to be dying after 5 days feel free to call us we are happy to give you a service call.
Lawn work can help transform your home. We strive to be in constant communication with our customers until the job is done. If you have questions or special requests, just drop us a line.
